    Ryan Ordway, a versatile musician, engineer, and producer, along with his wife and business partner Emily, are garnering lots of local love for reviving the recording scene in Portland, Maine. The duo breathed new life into a formerly dormant space, now known as The Studio Portland. Prior to the pandemic, Ryan had spent time designing and building studios in New Hampshire and Maine. Amid the 2020 lockdown, Ryan decided to call about a building in Portland that was being used as a studio, but only sparingly.     Since Teletronix introduced the LA-2A in the early 1960s, the studio world has gone wild for the legendary opto compressor. And why wouldn't we? The LA-2A features a streamlined design with only three knobs (Gain, Peak Reduction, and Gain Reduction), but everything that passes through it gets a gigantic dose of warmth and fatness. Universal Audio founder Bill Putnam purchased Teletronix in 1967 and began making the LA-2A under the Studio Electronics name (later UREI).     Soyuz Microphones is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2024 with what is known as the Tulean Explosion. This wordplay on Tula (Soyuz's hometown) and the Cambrian Explosion (or the Biological Big Bang) marks the start of a year of incredible product releases. And it all kicks off with the Wax Brass Bomblet. Since first hitting the scene in 2017, the 023 Bomblet has become a beloved microphone option in the studio. In honor of this special anniversary, Soyuz is doing a limited edition run of the FET mic with a unique facelift. The brand will produce 53 Wax Brass Bomblet microphones, which feature an unlacquered brass body.     Grammy Award-nominated engineer, producer, and musician Bobby Holland recently welcomed a group of music makers to Studio A and Studio B at Pentavarit. Inside the Nashville-based studio, Bobby broke down his immersive audio workflow and some of the recent updates he has made to his set-up. One standout change is Bobby's transition to an Antelope Audio interface as the central hub of his immersive audio rig. He is now using a Galaxy 32 Synergy Core audio interface, in addition to the new MRC Multi-Channel Remote Controller. "I just love it. I think this series is incredibly innovative."
