For those of you who have been waiting patiently on Apple to offer a Mac Pro that was upgrade-worthy, they have finally answered your prayers. Earlier today, the tech giant introduced the latest Mac Pro ($5999), which will be available in the Fall and looks to be tailor-made for the modern studio workflow.

The new design of the Mac Pro is one of function and accessibility. Apple has created a stainless steel frame with aluminum housing that lifts off and allows for access to every component of the computer. From there, its all about configurability and creating a machine that is ideal for your studio.

The new Mac Pro is built around an Intel Xeon processor which can include up to 28 cores (the most Apple has ever offered space for). The computer has large L2 and shared L3 caches, and 64 PCI Express Lanes for tons of bandwidth. To feed the processors of this workstation, Apple has given the Mac Pro an incredible amount of space for memory. Your ability to work fast will accelerate with six channels of ECC memory and 12 physical DIMM slots, which are capable of holding up to 1.5TB of memory.

For expanding your system, the new Apple Mac Pro offers room for eight PCI Express expansion slots. There is a lot of space for configurability here as there are four double-wide slots, three single-wide slogs and one half-length slot. The front I/O of the Mac Pro will feature two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 and USB A ports.

In addition to the Mac Pro announcement, Apple is also launching a matching monitor and a custom expansion module. The Pro Display XDR  is a 36 inch 6K Retina display with HDR viewing capabilities that will retails at $4999. The module, dubbed the MPX Module is a PCIe card that fits two graphics cards and will add more power.
