Originally released in 1997, the Neumann TLM 103 offers the same stunning sound as the classic Neumann U87 in a more compact, affordable package. Over the last 25 years, the TLM 103 has become one of the brand’s most successful microphones.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Neumann is releasing a limited 25-Year Edition ($1449) of the beloved TLM 103. Limited to just 500 units worldwide, each microphone bears the individual serial number on the front and comes with a pair of premium black gloves in a sturdy aluminum case.

Let’s take a closer look at what makes this piece of recording history so iconic.

Neumann TLM 103 25-Year Edition

An homage to the industrial aesthetics of the late 1990s, the TLM 103 - 25 Years Edition offers a raw, yet refined titanium look that makes an eye-catching addition to any mic locker. The galvanic nickel coating is made entirely using internal production resources.

As a tribute to the TLM 103’s well-deserved reputation as a studio workhorse, Neumann adorned the new TLM 103 - 25 Years Edition with ultra-fine rills, adding an elegant roughness to contrast the sleek reflective body.

Just like the original, the TLM 103 - 25 Years Edition’s large diaphragm condenser capsule is derived from the classic K67/87 capsule, used in the legendary Neumann U 87. However, its unique modern voicing, broad presence boost and ultra-low self-noise have made the TLM 103 a modern classic in its own right.
