With NAMM's Believe in Music Week less than a few days away, pro audio brands around the world are starting to announce new gear releases. One of the first drops of the NAMM 2021 season comes from Sequential who have just launched the Prophet-5 and Prophet-10 desktop modules.

Back in October, Sequential reintroduced the legendary Prophet-5 synthesizer, in addition to a Prophet-10. For the new Prophet-5 ($2499.00) and Prophet-10 ($3299.00) desktop modules, Sequential founder and designer Dave Smith managed to fit the big sound of the full-scale synthesizers into a smaller form factor. Just like the classic version, the Prophet-5 desktop module features five voices while the Prophet-10 has, you guessed it... 10!

These desktop synthesizers offer the same features as the original Prophet-5 just like each larger counterpart. Both the Prophet-5 and Prophet-10 have multi waveform analog oscillators, modulation via LFO and Poly Mod, analog resonant low-pass filters and amplifiers, and a filter and amplifier envelope for each voice. Each desktop synth also features Curtis VCOs and filters, in addition to a SSI 2140 filter designed by Dave Rossom.

Another unique feature of the Prophet-5 and Prophet-10 desktop models is the Vintage knob. This allows Prophet players the ability to dial in sounds on a scale from 1 to 4 and, in essence, loosen the synth's oscillators, filters and envelopes akin to various vintage units.

Even with the smaller size, these desktop modules make it extremely easy to shape, control and save the sounds you dream up. There are 200 factory programs (40 programs from the original unit) and space for 200 rewritable user programs. The compact case features USB, MIDI, Gate and CV ins and outs.
