ASCAPEXPO
The upcoming ASCAP "I Create Music" Expo is a unique event that brings together the world's most prominent minds in songwriting, composing, producers and the music industry. Taking place April 30th through May 2nd at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, the "I Create Music" Expo will offer classes in developing the skills needed to take your career to the next level. Since the first expo in 2006, ASCAP has truly developed the only national conference that specifically speaks to those looking to advance their songwriting and compositional skills. With classes, one-on-one sessions and workshops of all shapes and sizes, this year's version of the expo is sure to be the biggest one yet, as many new audio experts and companies have been added to the fray. As a part of the "I Create Music" Expo, Vintage King and PMC Loudspeakers are joining together for a presentation called "Production Secrets For Songwriters."  The session willl help songwriters and artists who want to learn the production, arrangement and mix tricks and tips that are used by the stars. Leading the discussion during the April 30th event will be famed producers/mixers Rob Chiarelli and Michael James.
ASCAPEXPO1
Getting his start at Paramount Recording Studios in the late 1980s, Rob Chiarelli scored early hits with his work on Teddy Pendergrass and Noveau records. In the time since, he's worked as a mixer and producer with a veritable list of who's who in pop music including Will Smith, Christina Aguilera, P!nk and Charlie Wilson. Splitting time between the A&R department and a recording console, Michael James has worked on both sides of the industry since the late 1980s. After a stint at Warner Music Discovery, James founded an indie label, Alternator Records, which led to work with New Radicals, A.J. Croce, Edwin McCain and more. In 2009, James helped co-create IndieProMix, a service which links indie artists with professional mixers for extremely affordable rates. For your chance to pick the minds of these incredible producers/mixers, you'll need to register for the ASCAP "I Create Music" Expo here. Once you've been accepted, head to the Lowes Hollywood Hotel on Thursday, April 30th at 10:55 AM, to take part in this interactive Q&A with Michael James and Rob Chiarelli. We hope to see you in Los Angeles!
