Drawing inspiration from the classic 1073 mic pre, the BAE 1073MP captures a timeless sonic signature revered in professional studios. It offers a harmonically rich bottom end, focused midrange, and subtly resonant highs that's perfect for any source. With up to 71 dB of gain, this preamp excels at amplifying low-output ribbon and dynamic microphones to provide maximum output level.
At the heart of the 1073MP lies its transformer-coupled, Class A design—a hallmark of vintage preamp designs. The preamp is meticulously hand-wired using high-quality Carnhill transformers, similar to those found in the original vintage units, to maintain signal integrity. Thanks to its Class A design, the 1073MP delivers smooth, linear gain and minimizes distortion, ensuring that every subtle detail is captured with full frequency response. Very well made unit with easy to read and use front controls. Offers that larger than life 1073 sound that I was looking for. Deeper tone than my Great River but slightly less open than my Rupert Neve 5211. Adds weight and color to LDC microphones on vocals, acoustic guitar and grand piano. Great up front sound quality.

This is one of the best pre amps for me. Talking about it well is too easy, so I mention the only flaw that a Hi-end product shouldn't have: the front panel is too thin and almost bends, the same goes for the whole casing. For a product of this quality, I expect the robustness of a tank, which even cheaper products have.
Classic Neve 1073 sound. A 57 on a guitar cabinet through this BAE 1073 into your DAW and you’ll hear that classic guitar sound. I’ve really liked this on every source I’ve tried so far. Other than guitar, my favorite has been vocals and also running a U47 through this into an 1176 on a mono drum room track
This thing has clarity across the frequency spectrum and saturates beautifully in a way that UAD plugins (as great as they are) just can’t compete with. Worth the price of admission.
