The BAE 10DCF is a rack mountable compressor and limiter that combines the compression characteristics of the legendary Neve 33609 with the Class A amplifier stage of the beloved Neve 2254. Equipped with class-leading Carnhill and Jenson transformers, the 10DCF delivers classic analog tone. And with an all-new inductor-based bypass filter, the 10DCD offers limitless tone shaping possibilities.
The BAE 10DCF is hand-wired with premium-grade analog components and fully discrete Class A circuitry. Carnhill and Jensen transformers provide rich, warm tone for tracking and mixing applications. And the new inductor-based bypass filter provide added versatility when recording low-frequency instruments. Elma stepped switches, BAE Audio’s trademark Marconi knobs, and a gas tank-style analog meter give the 10DCF a classic, rugged aesthetic.
The BAE 10DCF features eight large high-quality Marconi knobs for selecting compressor and limiter settings. On the left, the threshold knob extends all the way up to +16 dBu for mixing in the digital domain.
The ratio controls allow you to dial in subtle compression with ratios as low as 1.5:1 all the way up to an aggressive 10:1. This dual concentric knob also allows you to control the bypass filter, which uses the same exact Carnhill inductor design as the filter module on the iconic Neve 1073 preamp. Choose from filter settings at 50 Hz, 80 Hz, 160 Hz and 300 Hz.
The attack knob offers settings including 2 ms, 4 ms, 10 ms, 20 ms, 40 ms and 80 ms. The recovery controls can be set to 100 ms, 200 ms, 400 ms or 800 ms, as well as two automatic recovery settings modeled after the original 33609 design.
Additional Threshold and Recovery knobs on the right control limiter settings, while the classic red gain knob on the right controls make up gain.
Four push-buttons in the center of the BAE 10DCF provide added functionality. The bypass button bypasses the entire unit for quickly A/Bing settings, while the Compressor button engages and disengages the compressor circuit. The Link button allows you to link two 10DCF modules together for stereo compression, while the Limiter button engages and disengages the limiter circuit.
