The Avid Pro Tools MTRX II is Avid’s flagship interface for Pro Tools HD systems, and it all starts with the Base Unit. Powerful, versatile, and expandable, this next-gen interface provides seamless connection to Pro Tools and Avid control surfaces via comprehensive I/O including DigiLink, Dante, MADI, and optional Thunderbolt 3. With 4,096 x 4,096 routing capacity, the MTRX II is ready for even the most complex studio setups. Integrated SPQ speaker processing and Avid's DADMan tool make calibration and monitor control effortless. Whether you’re recording, mixing, or building a top-tier studio for immersive mixing, the MTRX II Base Unit is the ideal platform to start with.
The MTRX II Base Unit provides native DigiLink integration for Pro Tools HDX and HD Native systems, plus Core Audio compatibility for interfacing directly with Logic, Cubase, and other DAWs on macOS. Avid’s EUCON support lets you pair with Avid S6, S3, Artist, and third-party control surfaces for hands-on control. Adding the Thunderbolt 3 module extends low-latency I/O to any Thunderbolt-equipped computer, including PCs. Setup is plug-and-play: once connected, the MTRX II appears as a dedicated audio interface and control hub—no complex driver installation or patch bays required.
Right out of the box, the Avid Pro Tools MTRX II Base Unit features 64 channels of DigiLink I/O, 256 channels of Dante I/O, and 64 channels of MADI I/O. Rear-panel I/O card slots are ready to accept up to eight analog or digital cards for expanding your system with external mic preamps, ADAT and AES3 gear, or additional Dante and DigiLink cards. An optional Thunderbolt 3 module adds up to 256 more low-latency I/O channels. This modular architecture lets you configure the Avid Pro Tools MTRX II audio interface base unit to meet the needs of any recording, mixing, broadcast, or post-production studio.
Under the hood, the Avid Pro Tools MTRX II sports a massive 4,096 x 4,096-channel routing system that links every input to any output across DigiLink, Dante, MADI, Thunderbolt 3, and expansion cards. This endlessly flexible platform makes it possible to connect multiple HDX systems, create multiple submixes for headphone monitoring, or configure advanced routing and summing for Dolby Atmos mixing. Signal routing is managed in real time via DADman, so you can reconfigure routing on the fly during sessions without ever unplugging a cable.
The Avid Pro Tools MTRX II's SPQ speaker processing provides high-precision monitor calibration with up to 16 parametric filters per channel. This powerful processing allows you to correct acoustic anomalies, level-match multiple monitor pairs, and apply adjustable delay to avoid phase cancellation. The system supports up to 128 channels, accommodating multichannel audio formats such as Dolby Atmos. Use DADman’s Pro Mon Monitor Control panel to switch between speaker sets, solo channels, and recall calibration presets instantly.
With 256 channels of Dante networked audio built in, the Avid Pro Tools MTRX II Base Unit integrates seamlessly into Dante audio-over-IP infrastructures. Leverage your facility’s Ethernet backbone for long-distance audio transport, multi-room routing, or remotely controlling equipment from a central control room. Dante Domain Manager compatibility lets you manage user permissions, device discovery, and network health for multiple audio networks from a centralized control point. Whether linking multiple studios, mix stages, or broadcast facilities, the MTRX II audio interface gives you low-latency digital audio you can rely on.
DADman software is your command center for the fully modular MTRX II Base Unit. It provides an intuitive GUI for routing, patching, speaker calibration, and monitor control, with Pro Mon integration for touchscreen mixer panels. DADman lets you save and recall complete session snapshots, including multiple monitor profiles, I/O configurations, and custom cue mixes. Automatic firmware updates and remote diagnostics ensure that your state-of-the-art Ethernet audio interface stays up to date and performs at its best.
