The Audix DP4 is a perfect complement of four essential microphones for rhythm sections, sound engineers, and beyond. The pack consists of Audix’s two best-selling instrumentmics: the iconic Audix D6 and three i5 dynamics in a heavy-duty carrying case. Equallyuseful for studio and live sound, these mics are known for their clarity, sound isolation, high SPL handling and durability. Rim mount clips are included.
Close Miking
The D6 for kick drum and the i5 for snare and toms are considered must haves forevery drummer. The kick and snare are considered the core of any drum kit andthe foundation for every groove. If either the kick or the snare is unable to be heard, there is simply no groove and close miking insures that they will be captured in themix. Being high SPL dynamic microphones, the D6 and i5 excel at “close miking”. Thismiking technique captures the attack and percussive sound of the drum. Also, byhaving the mic close to the source of the sound, it helps to isolate and control thesound of each drum. On toms the i5 provide a clear accurate signal and the cardioidpattern allows you to use one mic between two rack toms if inputs are at a premium.
