Long before Vintage King, teenaged Jeffrey Ehrenberg was recording his garage band literally in a Monterey, California garage. After spending countless hours figuring out a Fostex 1/4" 8-track, he progressed to studying audio engineering in college, and eventually became a live sound/recording engineer.
While working as an engineer, Ehrenberg's own band, Starlight Desperation, took off and signed a deal with Capitol for a full-length release. As the band toured the world, working with fantastic producers and studios along the way, the people he met inspired the young musician to always be looking for new sounds.
"I start with a fresh approach to everything I do with music and production," Ehrenberg says. "There are some fundamental elements of engineering and organizing workflow, but tones and techniques are usually a fresh approach. This plays well into my ability to work with a wide variety of equipment at Vintage King."
In addition to his work at Vintage King and spending time with his family, Ehrenberg co-owns Infrasonic Mastering; a full-service, Grammy-winning mastering facility, which keeps him active in the music business. Alongside his partner, Pete Lyman, the facility has been responsible for mastering records from Halsey, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Banks, Weezer, Twin Peaks, OFF! and more.
Jeff Ehrenberg's friendly approach to helping customers goes back to some advice he received as a young man. "Treat every artist, assistant, session player and intern like they are the world's biggest star,' Ehrenberg states. "That's how we all deserve to be treated you never know who will be 'the next big thing' and many successful people tend to help those who've helped them along the way."
Q & A
Who are some of your favorite artists and why?
Fela Kuti: Besides an undeniable ability to make human beings move their body and feel alive, Fela was one of the strongest and most effective political voices from Music and Art. The world needs more Felas.
Kraftwerk: The godfathers of Electronic and Hip Hop. The foundation of today's music soundscape began almost 50 years ago with Kraftwerk and their sonics and grooves are hard to beat to this day.
What is your favorite piece of gear?
Do I have to choose? One piece of gear will not work by itself!
What else are you interested in, besides music?
I am devoted to my two young children. Parenthood has been my favorite stage of life thus far. When the kids get a bit older we hope to have a family band.
Your real world product expertise and experience makes your technical advice, expertise and depth thereof free from bulls*** and is most refreshing and valuable. Thank you for being there.
You guys are the f***ing best.
Ryan Lewis (Macklemore and Ryan Lewis)
I can't tell you how appreciative I am to you and everyone else at Vintage King for your assistance throughout the building/buying process. Don't know how I could've done it without such a savvy, friendly team nearby answering my unending barrage of questions.
You guys are the best! Hope to work with you much more in the future.

I had two Grammy wins this year - Ray LaMontagne & Carolina Chocolate Drops. Both made with help from Vintage King!
Received the equipment today. I'd just like to thank you, and Jeff Ehrenberg in particular, for such great service, communication, and speed of delivery – everything has gone smoothly and I really appreciate everything you've done in helping me purchase and obtain this gear.
I work in a music store myself, and to be honest, our local distributors could learn a lot from your professionalism and customer service. Thanks again.
