With a passion for vintage gear and sound engineering, Adam Clark brings a wealth of experience as a seasoned audio consultant. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Adam was immersed in music and the professional audio industry from his college days. With a strong background in both tracking and mixing, Adam has honed his skills in both home and professional studios as well as owning his own fully analog studio, Rhine Records, making him an invaluable asset to the Vintage King team.
Adam's approach to making music is all about freedom and creativity. He writes and records in the moment, relying on techniques he's learned from mentors and studio owners, along with hours of experimentation in his own studio. He believes that there's no one correct way to record or mix, and that every piece of gear will fit differently based on the tune.
In addition to his passion for music, Adam also has several other interests. He's an avid football fan and enjoys playing golf in his free time. He is also fascinated by Egyptian history and makes a mean cocktail, having run a bar in his previous venture.
As a Vintage King Audio Consultant, Adam brings a vast amount of knowledge and expertise to the table. From his favorite piece of gear (the Roland Space Echo RE-301) to his favorite guitarist (Tony Rice), Adam's passion for audio shines through in all that he does. With a steadfast commitment to quality and a drive for innovation, Adam is poised to make a significant impact at Vintage King.
Tell us a little about how you first got interested in music?
My mom and dad were big music heads and I have been listening to 60s and 70’s rock n roll (Dad) and folk/country (Mom) my entire life. My grandpa played banjo in bluegrass bands his entire life and I was exposed to guitar from a young age from him.
Who are some of your favorite artists and why?
It’s hard to narrow down a favorite artist since I listen to so much music. Some big influences are Tony Rice and Ralph Stanley. I started listening to Tony Rice when I was very young as he is my grandpa's favorite guitar player. I also love singer-songwriter artists and Ray Lamontagne is at the head of my list. His voice is incredible and soothes my soul. John Frusciante is my favorite guitarist and I have loved every album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their history and development as a band intrigues me.
What made you want to come work at Vintage King?
Vintage King has always stood out to me as the go-to place for purchasing gear and advice. My first experience calling in about my studio setup, the rep talked me through my needs and was very welcoming. From that point on, I haven’t gone with another company.
