Rack your lunchbox with API's American-made rack ears. Lunchbox Rack Ears are available for both the current production model lunchboxes, as well as the previous model. Made from aluminum and finished with a durable black coat, they're designed specifically to fit into your rack for a square, clean aesthetic look. Current models, which were produced after 2010, feature both XLR and DB25 connections and "HC" in the serial number on the back panel and measure 13.9" X 5.25" X 7.25”. Previous model lunchboxes will not list “HC” in the serial number and measure 12.4" X 5.25" X 7.25”. These rack ears will work for 2010 and later model 500-6B racks with serial numbers containing HC, as well as 500-8B racks.
Please note: Rack will require 3U of rack space in your 19-inch rack.

Fit like a glove
First of all, this fit my 500-8B lunchbox perfectly. Previously it was sitting on top of my 10-slot 500vpr and its nice to have it a bit more secure in the rack (I don't take it out of the studio). Installation was about 30 minutes including removing and replacing all 8 500-series modules, adding the ears, and mounting it back in the rack. The instruction sheet I received looked like it was copied on a 1980's ditto/mimeograph machine, Faxed on thermal paper, left out in the sun to fade for about a year, and then copied again. In other words, practically illegible. Luckily I didn't really need it so 5 stars anyway.
