New & Current Vintage King Card Holders
The Antelope Audio Edge is a dual-capsule large diaphragm condenser modeling microphone to be used with the new Antelope Discrete audio interfaces. With the use of Accusonic 3D modeling technology, you can transform this microphone into several vintage replicas. You have complete control over proximity effect, off-axis response, and even change the polar pattern during or after recording. With the use of the dual-capsule, you can blend two microphones together at once.
Edge is a modeling microphone suited for the manufacturer's real-time mic preamp modeling. Combined with the already highly acclaimed Antelope Audio FPGA Vintage Compressors & EQs, these new modeling microphones will comprise a true cutting edge front end that will usher in a new era for modern recording.
The FPGA modeling engine allows total customization of the microphone preamp, addition of vintage compressors and EQs, and effects that can all be monitored in real time with zero latency for a true hardware performance experience.
Inside the Discrete 8 FPGA Accusonic 3D modeling engine you can transform both Edge and Verge into vintage replicas giving you complete control over proximity effect, off-axis response and even allow you to change polar patterns during or after recording. Choose from a collection of classic and expensive microphones and track the results as you monitor live, bringing out a musician’s best possible performance. Record the dry signal and apply mic emulations later, experimenting freely and creatively.
The unique design comes from attaching the electrical lead to the edge of the diaphragm rather than the center. This offers a much smoother and natural response and is the secret sound to many sought-after vintage microphones.
Edge features dual edge-terminated capsules for a smooth/natural sound reproducing the expressiveness and character of expensive classic microphones. Antelope founder Igor Levin designed groundbreaking fully discrete electronics. Hand-selected capsules were chosen and encased in a carefully crafted enclosure with contours and shape for optimal sonic performance. Edge is an exquisite large diaphragm microphone with excellent transient response and capable of multiple polar patterns.
An included cable splits the signal into two outputs, which are perfectly matched and calibrated for the Accusonic preamps inside the new Discrete audio interfaces. Models include the C12/C12VR, U47, U67, U87, M49, M149, UMB57, TLM103, C414m ELA M251, AK47, C800g, R122 and 4038.
Signals can be recorded with or without modeling, allowing the artist to still monitor these settings in real time, but leave flexibility to the engineer to reshape the sound later down the road in the mixing process using the AFX2DAW plug-in.
All settings can be controlled through the interface control panel, they can also be controlled or automated inside your DAW with the AFX2DAW plug-in. Complete channel strips and up to eight AFXs can be saved and recalled within your session. You can have as many mic models active as there are preamps available in your Antelope interface. Pair this the Edge with the Verge microphone to unlock an entire locker of vintage microphones.
