AmpRX BrownBox Tube Amplifier Input Voltage Attenuator

The AmpRX BrownBox is an adjustable AC power supply for your amp or tube gear that helps you run your equipment at the optimal voltage. Plug the BrownBox into the wall, adjust the voltage and then plug your gear into the BrownBox. When a tube amplifier is supplied with the proper line voltage, it will sound and respond as originally intended, revealing the circuit’s true harmonic content, and preventing unnecessary, expensive, and frustrating repairs.

When run at optimal voltage you will put less wear on your tubes. The BrownBox limits the input voltage while attenuating the output voltage making it a better solution than a standard variac. Referencing your amp's specs, use BrownBox's onboard voltmeter to confirm what it is pulling. Then, use one of the four voltage reduction modes to dial in as close as possible. A/B the sound by toggling the BrownBox's bypass setting.

BETTER THAN A VARIAC

Unlike a variac, Brownbox will not accidentally harm or destroy your amplifier. The maximum input voltage available using BrownBox is your regional line wall voltage, in bypass mode. All other selections are reduction levels that you determine sound best for your amp. BrownBox employs a proprietary custom-wound toroid transformer, intended for use with one amplifier. Check your amp's input wattage rating prior to use. AmpRX proprietary transformers are custom wound exclusively for use with tube amplifier designs, but can and should be used with solid-state circuits.
