The Alder Audio H44 is a world-class ribbon microphone that providing you excellent sounding recordings on almost any source. It was designed to be as much of a studio workhorse as any large diaphragm condenser. Made in small batches in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the microphone features a versatile patented transducer and ribbon design that offers a combination of sound quality, durability, and affordability that is difficult to find in the world of ribbon mics.
The H44 has an asymmetric figure-8 polar pattern, essentially allowing it function as a vocal ribbon mic from the front and a traditional ribbon mic from the back. The front voicing has a unique presence that does well with vocals and close miked instruments. The back voicing has more of a classic ribbon openness that making it perfect for a large variety of sources such as overheads, guitar cabinets, strings, brass, room miking, and more. The combination of the two voicings creates a versatile package that is quick and easy to adapt to a wide variety of instruments and situations.
