3rd Power Dream Solo 3 Combo Amp

Meticulously designed from the ground up, the USA-made hand-wired Dream Solo Model 3 is inspired by the '59 AC 15/30 complete with its signature chime and growl as delivered by an EF86 preamp pentode. The DS3 departs from using the typical EL84 output tube approach and instead relies on a pair of 6V6 output tubes. Don't get us wrong, we love the sound of EL84s but some of the drawbacks (high heat, prone to microphonics and rattle sensitivity in combos) led us to head down a different path. We chose to power the DS3 with a proven workhorse, the 6V6. In the DS3, the 6V6 does a fantastic job delivering our interpretation of classic British AC flavors with our signature Mastered Tone approach. The result is a superb chime and growl with an extended headroom that's perfect for the studio or stage.

The DS3 allows guitarists to achieve Normal Channel voicings and beyond by way of its three-position Brilliance switch. In the OFF position, the sound produced is wide and full of depth, especially in the low frequency range. Position 1 eases back on the low frequencies and allows the euphonious mid range to bloom. Position 2 takes you right into Beatles or U2 territory with top-end chime for days.

With the DS3, you can precisely tailor your high-frequency response to suit your needs by way of the preamp anchored Top Cut control and a power amp anchored Global Presence control. When fine tuned together it is possible to move the high frequency response out of the vocal range and into a higher register without giving up your clarity. The benefit is that you can achieve an extraordinary clean tone that is ethereal and pleasing without cluttering up the vocal range and more importantly, without "piercing your forehead."

The Dream Solo 112 combo takes advantage of 3rd Power's proprietary FlexCAB triangular speaker enclosure to deliver your sound without the typical 'beam' associated with standard combo amp enclosures resulting in a huge sonic footprint far beyond that of an ordinary 112 combo.
