Fresh off celebrating their one year anniversary in the pro audio world, Aston Microphones has announced that they will be releasing a new pencil microphone dubbed the Starlight in 2017. As the follow-up to the Spirit and Origin microphones, the Starlight builds on Aston's already impressive track record with another affordable mic that captures pristine sounding audio.

In addition to having a wallet-friendly price tag, the Aston Starlight is innovative as its the first pencil microphone to feature a laser targeting feature. When using the Starlight's laser, you'll easily be able to recall mic positions from prior sessions and save time when setting up for recording. Thanks to Aston, the ability to get consistent sounds has never been so easy.

As for the microphone itself, the Starlight features a 20mm cardioid capsule that was selected by a panel of 50 top producers in the industry during a blind listening test last year. The microphone also features a unique voice switching feature, which offers front-end filtering between the capsule and PCB. The switch enables users to select between three different modes of operation including "Vintage," "Modern" and "Hybrid."

We recently caught up with the Aston Microphones crew during the 2017 NAMM Show and chatted about the Starlight. Watch the video below to learn more about how this new pencil microphone can help you in the studio or any live setting.
