World-renowned as a classic recording studio microphone, the Shure SM7B is one of the measuring sticks by which other mics are judged in terms of its sound and durability. In honor of two-week Mic Mission, we'll be giving away two of these essential microphones to two lucky winners.

What makes the Shure SM7B so special? This dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response with bass rolloff and mid-range emphasis, in addition to an internal "air suspension" shock isolation and highly effective pop filter. The end result is one of the all-time essential microphones that have been used on vocals, kick drums, guitar cabs and beyond for some of the most influential recordings in music history.

Our contest has officially ended and we have randomly selected two winners from all of our entries. Congratulations to Dan Whitlock of Northhampton, Massachusetts and Jaakko Mäkinen of Helsinki, Finland who have won Shure SM7B microphones!

  • I know the SM7B well and I agree with some other comments, Cloudlifter with ANY dynamic microphone is a combo to be sure... well add Ribbon Microphones too but any combo of these mics with the Cloudlifter would make stunning quiet and clean recordings or real time in a broadcast environment!

SM7's are my go to guitar cabinet mic. After many shootouts, I choose them over 57s every time. Paired with a ribbon the guitar tones are amazing. Can't have too many of them!
