The Bubble Talks Their API 1608

The Bubble is a fully functional hybrid digital and analog recording studio located in Austin, TX. Founded in 1998 by Alex Lyon and Chris “Frenchie” Smith, the studio’s gear list is as eclectic as the building where it all lives – a cottage house that sits behind a 90-year old historic home in the bustling Hyde Park neighborhood.

Featuring an eclectic collection of boutique and vintage mics, a variety of unique compressors (including two Urie 1176 and a Urie LA4 to name a few) and selection of instruments, The Bubble’s API 1608 recording console has a lot of tools to work with.

"As a studio owner I want to buy my equipment from people who understand the needs of a professional recording environment,” says Lyon of his relationship with Vintage King Audio. “And, as a gear nerd I want to buy my equipment from other gear nerds. Vintage King fills both of those needs.”

Clients of The Bubble include Built to Spill, Explosions in the Sky, Lemmy Kilmister, Meat Puppets, Jet, The Dandy Warhols, … And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead, The Datsuns, Clem Burke of Blondie and Britt Daniel of Spoon to name an incredibly select few.
