With an open floor plan to serve as a tracking room for kit/instrument mic shootouts, our Gallery offers a wide selection of gear for you to hear and try. Bring in your own source material on a CD, iPhone, iPad, or laptop and we'll plug it into our high-resolution docks or digital system, so you can get your hands on on racks upon racks of outboard gear, each tied to a console. You can explore stereo/dual-mono compressors tied to one console, a rack of mono compressors tied to another, and a rack of EQs connected to the third. We've filled each rack with the most in-demand boutique, modern, and vintage gear, putting your best options at your fingertips. What's more, each console station features its own DAC and a multiple-distribution system, so you'll be connected to every piece of gear in the rack at once. Using the console at each station, you can easily A/B any piece of gear you want and hear the qualities and nuances each one gives to the tracks. There's no better way to get to know your options. Outside of creating a shootout-centric atmosphere with a revolving selection of gear, the VKLA Gallery also doubles as a meeting space where we hold our events and workshop series.

The sole inspiration behind the Mic Locker was to help you find the ideal mic/preamp marriage for your needs. The heart of the space is the vocal booth, acoustically deadened and outfitted with over 40 microphones of your choosing, from the affordable to top of the line. As you step up to each microphone, the Manley Mic Maid makes it easy for you to compare up to four microphones at a time through the preamps you want to hear. You can choose a clean preamp to find the right microphone match for the vocalist, then systematically shootout nearly every preamp, pre/EQ, and channel strip on the market. We have over forty standard and 500 Series preamps wired up and ready to go, racked by type to allow for fast selection and easy hands-on comparison as you dial in a sound. With our Mic Locker's unique layout and vast gear selection, you can hear the details and waste no time locating a combination that sounds incredible. You can even bring in your own mics to shootout against your new options.

We designed, built, and fine-tuned every aspect of our Critical Listening Room to create the ideal space for comparing highly nuanced gear. A custom-built Dangerous Music speaker switcher sits at shootout central, networking six paris of soffit-mounted speakers and over twenty pairs of nearfield and midfield speakers from the likes of ATC, Barefoot, PMC, Genelec, ADAM, Focal, Dynaudio, ProAc, and others. Behind the soffits sits 20,000 pounds of sand, so no resonance or vibrations come from the soffit. In addition to its wide selection of speakers, regularly updated with the latest models, the room is also stocked with an AWS 948 console by SSL, as well as an API 1608, tied to an Avid HDX system, for an effortless AD/DA shootout. Converters by Avid, Apogee, Burl, Lynx, Mytek, UA, Metric Halo, Lavry, Weiss, and more can be spread out over one of the consoles and seamlessly compared in stereo and/or multi-channel configurations. Finally, our Critical Listening Room showcases effects processors from Bricasti, Lexicon, Eventide, and TC Electronic, allowing you to immerse yourself in the purest form of digital verb imaginable.
