Avoid Restocking Fees

Help us sustain our Easy Return policy. To reserve your right to return the gear within 30 days with no re-stocking fees please observe these steps upon receipt of item(s):

Keep all packaging in like-new condition. Open packaging gently and carefully.

  • When opening package use scissors and try avoid tearing packaging.
  • Take note of how components are packed.

Keep all items in new condition unless 100% sure you’re keeping the gear.

  • Avoid scuffs and scratches in handling and rack mounting.
  • We recommend rack mounting only after you’re certain you’re keeping the gear.
  • If rack mounting, use plastic washers and beware of metal rack screws’ tendency to scratch rack-mount holes.

Include everything that came with your purchase. If equipment or accessories are damaged or missing, a re-stocking fee will apply upon return.

How To Return Your Items

  1. Contact Vintage King to obtain a Return Authorization (RA).
  2. Place a copy of the RA inside the package of the items for return.
  3. Write RA number anywhere on your airbill, not on the box or packaging.
  4. Returns must be complete including accessories and documentation with original packaging.
  5. You are responsible for return shipping costs including shipping insurance which is recommended to protect your items, as you are liable for items damaged during return shipment.
  6. The following products are NOT returnable:
    • Special Order Items - Items that are non-stocking and require special ordering
    • Personal items - Items that require intimate contact with the body during use, including in-ear headphones and microphone windscreens
    • Custom built cabling, mic input panels and stage boxes
    • Software
    • Computers
    • Hard Drives
    • Recording Master Tape
    • Studio furniture, racks and chairs
    • Items shipped via freight
  7. We will inspect your return once it’s received. If you have met the above conditions and the items are all in like-new condition, you will get your choice of a full refund or credit on account.
  8. If any of the above conditions are not met, Vintage King reserves the right to charge a restock fee equal to our costs to return the item to like-new condition.
  9. If you received Free Shipping on your order, the value of the shipping cost will be deducted from your refund or credit.

International Returns:

Important: In order to avoid unnecessary duties or taxes when returning your item(s), you MUST use the customs and shipping documents Vintage King provides along with your Return Authorization. Vintage King will refuse shipment of items when customer fails to use Vintage King provided customs and shipping documents or returns items without prior authorization.

The Vintage King Easy Return policy is effective for products purchased after March 4th, 2014.

Free Extended Warranty

When you choose Vintage King, you know you're protected. That's because we stand behind all of our new and used gear with a FREE warranty. If you purchase new gear, we extend the manufacturer's warranty by one year, giving you added peace of mind. What's more, we even protect your investment in used and classic gear, providing a VK-backed warranty at no added cost to you. We hope you'll never have to use it, but if you do, our customer service team is unbeadivle.

New Gear

If it's available at Vintage King, we add one year to the manufacturers' warranty FREE. Should a problem ever arise, our team will go above and beyond to facilitate the best possible solution in the timeliest manner. We think that having an unexpected gear problem is headache enough, so we take care of every detail to get you and your gear back up and running as fast as possible. When you choose Vintage King, you're automatically covered.

Used Gear

Back before we got our start, owners Mike and Andrew Nehra would buy gear through ads in magazines, sight unseen, and would often receive broken junk they couldn't return. In launching Vintage King in the early '90s, they made a pledge to never let that happen to any of their customers. That's why we offer up to a one-year FREE warranty on any used or vintage piece we sell — and any piece we service. We protect your investment in used microphones with six months of our leading VK protection. We cover most used digital gear for 30 days. You receive a full year of coverage on almost everything else. There's simply no other protection for used gear like it. Plus, your FREE coverage comes in addition to the rigorous testing and evaluation we give each and every piece of used gear available for purchase at Vintage King.

"As-Is" Items

Our warranty does not apply to a handful of items for sale at Vintage King marked "as is." These items are distinctly marked "as is" on our site. We do our best to accurately describe "as is" gear, pointing out all known flaws and defects. However, we often sell these items in the same shape we received them in and make no promises about the gear's condition or fitness. "As is" items are nonreturnable unless the item is entirely nonfunctional at the time you receive it. If your gear will not power on or pass signal upon arrival, get in touch with us right away and we will coordinate a return.

Our warranty coverage applies only to product failure when used under normal operating conditions. Normal wear and tear is not included (for example, rack rash, the need for a new knob as the numbers have worn off, etc.). We will, however, help you get a replacement should you need one! Warranties are non-transferable. Please take a minute to read the warranty details below:

  • Prior Authorization Required: Should any issue arise for warranty service, contact our customer service department Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm Eastern Time and they will be happy to help you. You can email customerservice@vintageking.com or call 1.888.653.1184 and press 2. If you're calling from outside of the United States, please call 1.248.591.9276.
  • Product Registration For NEW item(s): It is important that you register your product(s) to initiate the manufacturer’s warranty. We will extend your factory warranty, though your initial registration with the manufacturer is a condition to receiving our free coverage.
  • Shipping Cost: You are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance associated with repair, to and from Vintage King Audio. (Prior Authorization Required).
  • NEW Manufacturer Warranties: Any manufacturer warranties can be used at any time in conjunction with our warranty period.
  • Our warranty is meant to keep your sessions up and running. We will do everything we can to repair your products as soon as possible. We know what it’s like to be without your favorite piece of gear and want to help. In order to protect ourselves from someone who might be less than honest or forthcoming, we do reserve the right to refuse any product sent to us for warranty coverage as well as the right to modify the conditions of this warranty at any time.

Not Covered:

  • "As-is" items (see above)
  • Computer systems, storage medium, tape machines
  • Failure due to dust, heat, humidity, and failures materialized from power surges
  • Mechanical or electrical breakdowns caused by unintentional and accidental damage from handling of the product
  • Damage from abuse, misuse, introduction of foreign objects into the product, unauthorized product modifications or alterations, failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions
  • Consumable products, accessories and supplies, including but not limited to: bulbs and/or lamps, tubes, batteries, cartridges, tapes, computer software or disks
  • Power conditioners, surge protectors and power regulators are not covered; nor is the repair or replacement of equipment connected to these products
  • Damage occurring by improper voltage
  • Acts of god
  • Equipment purposed for commercial rental
  • Products with removed or altered serial numbers
  • Loss or corruption of data and/or the restoration of software and operating systems
  • Loss and/or theft of the product
  • Costs associated with downtime or loss of use
  • Damage covered under any insurance policy, or any other warranty or service plan

*Note: Certain vintage components may not be available in which case a quality modern component may be substituted to facilitate a repair.

The Vintage King Extended Warranty covers most products purchased after September 15th, 2009.

What Gear Qualifies?

The vast majority of Vintage King gear is eligible, so long as it's not a large, overweight item that requires extra care when shipping. We'll let you know. Also, promotional items, including demo deals and specials are excluded and cannot be combined.

If you live outside the US, certain manufacturers may not allow us to ship their gear internationally. Contact us to find out about item eligibility.

In the rare event an item you've selected doesn't qualify, we'll contact you immediately to let you know.

U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico. 1–5 business days within the contiguous U.S.; 3–7 business days to and from Alaska and Hawaii. 3-7 business days to Canada and Puerto Rico.

U.S. Delivery to businesses by 4:30 p.m. and to residences by 7 p.m, in 3 business days.

FedEx 2 Day

U.S. Delivery by 4:30 p.m. in 2 business days to most areas (by 7 p.m. to residences).

Signature Required for Delivery

In order to protect your shipment from theft, we require a direct signature when delivered. An email will be sent upon shipment so you can check delivery dates with the tracking number provided. Please make certain someone is available to receive your package or shipping charges may incur after three delivery attempts. Any packages that require rerouting will be charged $10.00.

If you are new to vintageking.com you can create an account or checkout as a guest.   5. Enter address information. Enter your billing and shipping address.

Checks: All checks (including cashier’s checks and money orders) must clear before any orders or merchandise can be sent out. There is a 5–7 business day hold placed on all checks received.

Bank Wire Bank: details will be provided upon request. We cannot ship until bank wires have been confirmed and funds have been received by our banking institution. Please fax us a copy of the wire transaction provided by your bank to speed up this process and help track your incoming wire. E-mail customerservice@vintageking.com for bank wire details.

Credit Card: We can only ship your order to addresses verifiable by your issuing credit card bank. Please be sure to provide your exact billing address and telephone number which are the same as your credit card issuer has on file for you. Incorrect information will delay the processing of your order. *Credit card payments will be processed for the full amount before any labor is performed on used and vintage items.

Credit Card Restrictions: Vintage King Audio retains the right to refuse credit card purchases at any time and is subject to Vintage King Audio's approval. Credit card charges for larger transactions may be denied and could require an alternate payment method. Vintage King Audio also retains the right to charge any customer credit card on file to pay for overdue accounts.

Occasionally, our marketing department will create promotional or "promo" codes that help you save money on your gear purchase. These codes can be found in our email newsletter and throughout the site.

How Do I Use Promotional Codes?

Promo codes can be entered into the box located on the shopping cart page. Once entered, click "Apply" and watch your discount appear before your eyes!

Sales Tax Policies

Vintage King Audio collects sales tax for shipments to California, Illinois, Michigan and Tennessee. Partial and complete tax exemptions may be available in these states. Below are the forms that can be filled out and returned by emailing customerservice@vintageking.com or fax to 248.545.1767.

Avid Pro Tools

  1. Visit www.ilok.com to sign up for an iLok.com account (if you don't already have one).
  2. Visit www.avid.com/activation and log in to your Avid account using the email address you used to set up the account. (If you don't already have an account, click "Create Your Account" to create one.)
  3. In the resulting screen, enter your activation code in the field and then click "Download Now."
  4. Visit www.ilok.com, log in to your account, and follow the instructions to transfer the license from your account to your iLok USB Smart Key.

BIAS

FXpansion

  1. First, create a user account at FXpansion.com, if you have not already. This will be your user account that you use to authorize all your current and future FXpansion products.
  2. Proceed to registering your serial at FXpansion.com, if it has not already been assigned to your user account. You can register the product here. You can confirm that your product is registered once you proceed to the Support > Downloads page, as you will see the registered product(s), serials, and download links.
  3. Once registered correctly, proceed to the Support > Downloads > Downloads for and locate the proper product. You will see your product and serial number on this page, along with the blue download link for the latest version of the software.
  4. Proceed to downloading the appropriate link. These downloads are the FULL installers for your product(s). There is no need to download and install the previous versions in order to use the latest version of your product.
  5. After you download, please open the downloaded file. This will prompt the installation to your system. After a complete install, please open your product and you will be prompted to authorize your product.
  6. When the FX License Manager pops up, authorize using your registered FXpansion user account name, password, and product serial. Make sure that your computer is connected to the internet and you should have no problems with the authorization process. If you do run into any trouble, please email ryan@fxpansion.com for assistance.

Izotope

  1. A download link and a serial number will be delivered to you via e-mail from Vintage King
  2. The first time you load the software, click the “Authorize” button and input the license key when prompted

How does Section 179 work?

We'll do our best to translate the math-speak. At its core, Section 179 was added as a part of recent Stimulus Bills that were passed into law. Before Section 179, you could only write off the amount your gear depreciated every year, which can still be done. This new provision helps business owners get the equipment they need today by accelerating that depreciation through Section 179.

Thanks to Section 179, you get to write off the full purchase price in the very same year you buy the gear. By doing this, you don't have to postpone the purchases you want to make. How much can I deduct?

In late 2015, Section 179 was increased to a permanent level of $500,000. Businesses exceeding a total of $2 million of purchases in qualifying equipment will have the Section 179 deduction phase-out dollar-for-dollar and completely eliminated above $2.5 million. Additionally, the Section 179 cap will be indexed to inflation in $10,000 increments in future years.

What gear does Section 179 work for?

Even some software qualifies for Section 179. For purchases up to $500,000, the deduction works exactly the same way for new and used gear. Used item delivery times vary depending upon the item. Signature Required

In order to protect your shipment from theft, by default, we require a direct signature when delivered. You can opt out of this option in the checkout, which will mean that the shipping carrier will leave your package without anyone signing for it. If shipping with signature required, please make certain someone is available to receive your package or shipping charges may incur after three delivery attempts. Any packages that require rerouting will be charged $10.00.

What Are "Demo Deal" Products?

A "Demo Deal" item simply means we've had it out of the box to demonstrate to another customer on site or sent to their premises to hear in their own studio for a few days, therefore it is no longer factory-sealed. "New" products are exactly as they sound, brand spankin' new! These products are in their original packaging straight from the manufacturer. Any products that have been returned to us or traded in are either listed as "Used" or "Demo-Deal" products.

What Are "Vintage & Used" Products?

Vintage Products

A "vintage" item is a piece of audio gear that has been formerly owned by someone else, and either sold to us, or traded in toward the purchase of other equipment. The term "vintage" is not a precise one, but generally refers to a product that is at least 20-25 years old. Audio equipment from this era is predominantly analog, but does include some of the earlier digital gear. Most of our vintage pieces are from the "Golden Age" of audio design and manufacturing, with companies like Neve, Neumann, Urei, dbx and Helios making their classic products in the 60s and 70s. Vintage King is proud to offer the largest selection of such gear in the world, and we are constantly looking to expand our stock, (hey, we have to live up to our name!). All of our "vintage" items are serviced by our in-house technical staff - using as many original parts as possible - and nearly all of them are provided with a six month or 1 year warranty.

Used Products

A "used" item is a product that has been formerly owned by someone else, and either sold to us, or traded in toward the purchase of other equipment. Some used items are relatively new; their owners only part with them so that they can 'trade-up' to something else they have their eye on. Other used items that are of a certain age are called "vintage" items. Although no longer under the manufacturer's warranty period, almost all used items are serviced by our in-house technical staff, and come with a Vintage King warranty: 1 year for analog rack gear, 6 months for microphones, and 30 days for most digital products.
